Travel to Cornell University
Plan to arrive and register on campus at Cornell University in Ithaca at 2:00pm on June 3rd at the Robert Purcell Community Center. We will be waiting on campus to greet you at that time. If special arrangements must be made, please contact either Sarah Getz or Juliet Davidow. Check out will be at 10:00am on June 8th.

Please send us your travel information within two weeks of your acceptance including method of travel, your expected arrival and departure times, and your flight numbers. Even though we will be meeting you on campus, it is helpful to have as much information as possible. Let us know if you have any questions.
Recommended Course of Travel:

Ithaca Tompkins Regional Airport (ITH) is the closest airport to the campus. Northwest Airlines, USAirways and United Airlines all serve this airport. If at all possible, fly into this airport. From the airport, a bus or taxi, (607) 277-7777, can bring you to Cornell's campus.

Greyhound and Shortline Buses serve Cornell University and the surrounding areas.

Amtrak's Syracuse station is the nearest Amtrak station to Cornell University. This train station is approximately 80 minutes away from the campus.

From the Airport to Campus:
For those of you flying into Ithaca's airport, here are some useful addresses to direct your cab driver. Also, since everyone is arriving at very different times, here is a reference for when and where the group will be gathered.

For those arriving before 2:00pm.
- Please have your taxi bring you to the Hurlburt House at 1 Country Club Rd (off Triphammer Rd).
- Hurlburt is where you will be staying during the Summer Institute. Registration will begin at 2:00p.

For those arriving after 2:00pm and before 3:30pm.
- Please have your taxi bring you to Robert Purcell Community Center at 90 Jessup Rd.
- At registration you will be provided with information packets, full of helpful information to get you around campus and Ithaca, the itinerary for the week (including special dinner arrangements), and contact for attending speakers and students.

For those arriving after 4:00pm
- Please have your taxi bring you to the AD White House at East Avenue (big white building on campus).
- The opening address and student introductions will begin at 4:00, and the reception dinner will begin at 5:30 (in the same location) so if you will be arriving after these events have begun, please join the group as unobtrusively as possible. We will register you and provide you with your welcome packet at the earliest convenient time.
Getting Around Campus:

Cornell University has several campus maps to help you get around. Upon arrival, printed maps and bus passes will be distributed to all attendees.
Room:
- Each attendee will be assigned to a single room in the Hurlburt House.

Bedding and towels will be provided, but you are responsible for bringing all other items you may need during your trip. This includes: mirror, alarm clock, blow dryer, iron, toiletries, etc.
*Room is not available for the night before check-in or after check-out.
Dining:
There are three planned dinners:
- June 3rd at 5:30pm
- Opening Reception and Dinner the AD White House
- Catered by Serendipity Caterers
- Dress is business-casual optional
- June 5th at 5:00pm
- A bus will pick up at Corson Mudd/Statler/Hurlburt House
- Dinner on the M/V Manhattan Cruise Ship
- Dress is casual; M/V Manhattan Cruises requests that you wear flat shoes
- June 7th at 5:00pm
- A bus will pick up at Corson Mudd/Statler/Hurlburt House
- Closing Dinner at the Sheldrake Winery
- Dress is business-casual optional
All daily events will be held at Corson Mudd Hall. Continental breakfast and a coffee break will be served each day.
**You are responsible for all other meals**
Campus cafeterias may not be open, but meals can be purchased off-campus. The town of Ithaca is easily accessible by bus and there are many places to visit.
